Southern Utah is home to some of our nation’s most beautiful National Parks and natural wonders. Cedar City, Utah, located just 90 miles from Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, acts as a year-round gateway for must-do adventures for travelers of all ages. It’s the perfect destination for a multi-generational family gathering.

Brian Head boasts the lowest lift ticket prices in all of Utah, making it fun and affordable for everyone in your family. Learn to Ski bundles include rentals, lift tickets, and lessons and are available for all ages. Skiing not your thing? Try out their snow tubing runs or watch the action from the warmth and comfort of the Last Chair Saloon.

Once you’re done hitting the slopes, take a scenic drive through the Kolob Canyons inside Zion National Park. The canyons are Zion’s best kept secret and you’ll be rewarded with gorgeous views along the 12 mile, round-trip drive.
Just be sure to check ahead of time for any road closures or weather advisories and take it easy: the road ascends 1,100 feet in just five miles. There are plenty of places to pull off the road to take in the glorious sights, snap photos, or check out roadside exhibits.

In the spring and summer, family hikes are the perfect way to add a little adventure to your day. Hikes range from easy day hikes to challenging overnight adventures. Cedar Breaks National Monument is an ideal spot for multi-aged groups to spend a day. Take a leisurely two-mile hike along the Alpine Pond Trail to check out the wildflowers (wildflowers hit peak colors in July and August) and breaks. If your group is up to a slightly more intense challenge, continue your hiking adventure along the Spectra Point Trail. The hike is more strenuous, but worth the gorgeous views.

At night, join in one of Cedar Breaks’ “Star Parties” and experience a night sky like you’ve never seen before. Star Parties are available on Saturday nights from July through Labor Day. Admission is complimentary. Add a little all-ages adventure to your star gazing with a night hike (offered only during a full moon.)  USA Today named Cedar Breaks as one of the Top 10 Places to Stargaze in 2012 so you know you’re in for a special experience.

Dixie National Forest also offers outdoor fun and adventures, suitable for every member of the family.  Your group will find more than enough activities to keep everyone happy, from leisurely hikes, mountain biking trails, fishing, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, picnicking, and more. Set up at a picnic area or campsite and let everyone choose their own level of adventure and activity for the day. Group picnic and campsites are available.
